Clovis Granny Hexi

My Clovis Granny Hexi was designed soon after I learned my Air Force kids got orders to move to Clovis, NM in summer 2022. The color palette is what I imagine the desert and west of Texas. I designed it in a way that it will also be a memory game for my grandbabies to play. I used an 11-color palette and made 32 unique color combination hexagons. I then duplicated each one for a total of 64 hexagons. I laid out 8 rows of 8 and used the zig-zag slip stitch to join. I crocheted one final round of half-double crochet around the entire throw. Each end has 8 points where I attached the 16 beaded tassels.

Round 1: Work 11 DC into the Magic Circle. SLST to join or fasten off. Turn. (12)

Round 2: (worked from back) CH 1; Work a Puff ST + CH 1 in between the DC STS. SLST to join or fasten off. Turn. (12 Puffs + 12 CH)

Round 3: Begin in a CH SP; CH 1; 1 SC in same ST; 1 SC in Puff ST; *2 SC in next CH SP; 1 SC in next Puff ST*. Repeat from * to * around. SLST to join or fasten off. (36)

Round 4: Begin in any ST. CH 2; 1 DCBLO in first ST; 1 DCBLO in next 2 STS; *2 DCBLO in next ST; 1 DCBLO in next 2 STS*. Repeat from * to * around. SLST to join. Fasten off. (48)

Round 5: Begin with any post from Round 4. Work 1 FPSC around each post. SLST to join. Fasten off. (48)

This is where you’ll begin to make the corners.

Round 6: Begin in any ST from Round 4. CH 4; 1 HDC in same ST; 1 HDC in each of the next 7 STS; *[1 HDC, CH 2, 1 HDC] in the next ST; 1 HDC in each of the next 7 STS*. Repeat from * to * around. SLST to join in the first CH SP or fasten off. (54 STS + 6 CH 2 SPS)

Round 7: Begin in any CH SP. CH 5; 1 DC in same CH SP; 1 DC3L in each of the next 9 STS; *[1 DC, CH 2, 1 DC] in the next CH SP; 1 DC3L in each of the next 9 STS*. Repeat from * to * around. SLST to join in the first CH SP or fasten off. (60 STS + 6 CH 2 SPS)

Round 8: Begin in any CH SP. CH 4; 1 HDC in same CH SP; 1 HDCBLO in each of the next 11 STS; *[1 HDC, CH 2, 1 HDC] in the next CH SP; 1 HDCBLO in each of the next 11 STS*. Repeat from * to * around. SLST to join in the first CH SP or fasten off. (66 STS + 6 CH 2 SPS)
